    Hi OF,

For sale is my Universal Geneve Medico-Compax, the watch is dated back to mid 1940s.

Dial: 100% original dial with patina, radium numerals and markers. The radium on the minute hand has been reinforced to preserve the original radium and to prevent it from falling. All original blued steel hands, sword hour and minute hands with original radium.
Case: 14k solid gold case with some wear and patina, very wearable for daily beater because the case is not as soft as the 18k.
Movement: Universal Geneve cal 285, marked HOX on the movement which means this watch was sold in the US through the Henry Stern agency.

Made for doctors to measure patient's pulse, this particular dial on Medico-Compax is the rarer version with a wide pulsation scale printed in red, as well as the small subdials. No service history, all functions works perfectly, chronograph is very crisp. The watch measures 35mm excluding crown. Triple signed Universal Geneve on the dial, inside caseback and movement.

The watch is sold as is head only, no box or papers. Priced at REDUCED USD5,100 + shipping. Paypal or bank wire only.

    Thanks heaps

    Andre

...such a beautiful watch from a great fellow. You should go to Japan more often, @Dre - we all benefit from it! GLWYS.

An amazing watch and no better seller. I've owned the steel version and it is one-of-a-kind. Rarity, beauty and pedigree all in one... bundled with solid gold.

Thanks for all the kind words above guys! I'll be listening to offers on this beauty that was sold alongside Patek from the Henry Stern agency NY!

Yes I remember that, your watch was the reason why I was looking for this particular Medico-Compax specifically! Thanks for inspiring me :D

Will somebody please buy this so I can stop showing it to my wife and saying: "isn't this beautiful? Do you like it??? More than my other ones?"

I'm starting to suspect she's beginning to figure out my true intentions. ::shy::

Someone asked about the radium on the minute hand that has been stabilized and reinforced, the reason this was done is because there was a chunk of radium that fell from the hand.

That chunk of radium was put back to the minute hand by my watchmaker somehow, and the lume is still the original radium as I've described, not a relume. I will provide a photo of the dial under a UV light later today.

For some reason, a lot of these Medico watches with this particular radium dial, has a lot of missing lume from the sword hands. I'm not sure if it happened due to the way it was worn back in the days by the previous owners, whom I assume would be doctors.

But apart from the 2 Christies examples above, that has a relumed minute hand on the gold one, and relume hands on the steel one, I've seen a lot of them to have a similar issue on the lume.

    Edited:

UV light shot below shows all original even radium

Having seen this watch in person w a UV light, I can say for sure that this hasn't been relumed. The lume on these sword hands are time bombs just waiting to deteriorate, so reenforcing them is recommended for all owners of watches with these types of hands.

This watch is a very attractive example with wonderful patina on the dial
