I recently bought this UG watch. After an exhaustive search im unable to find another one, like it. This watch i believe was polished. Seems like the case number was polished off but I cant be sure. It is a snap case, only the crystal and bezel snap off. In order to gain access to the movement the hands and dial would have to be removed (my guess). The wind function works with strong tension and it does keep good time. Anyone have information on this? Im not a dealer or collector. However I do like UG and would be looking to add additional watches to the one I own. I am here to learn.

Few of the pics have the bezel and crystal removed

Thank you.

Chuck

Pic #3 & #4 Bezel and Crystal removed. Crystal has alot of scratches. Can those be polished out? I do like the watch as it is. Also im in the Houston TX area if anyone knows a watch shop that can work with UG.

Without a reference number from the case or any information from the inside, it will not be easy to identify it. The dial has been completely repainted in the past, and then the repainted dial unfortunately sustained water damage.

There's a marking on the case saying "10k gf top caps 65" - meaning this is a gold-filled case (i.e. a base metal case with a layer of gold plated on). There are other watches floating about the internet with similar markings, but I have not seen this before. I assume that the case was made in the U.S. (where gold filled watches were much more common than in Europe) by a third party manufacturer. So either this is an "official" U.S. model (which would explain why you can't find another - not much documentation left beyond a few jewellers' ads), or the movement was recased (which would also explain why you can't find another like it).
The Speidel bracelet also points to a U.S. provenance.

That's referring to the caps on the bracelet links, nothing to do with the case.

My bad! Tops would be the manufacturer of the bracelet, then.
So ... possibly a U.S. model, but nowhere near as sure as I made it sound.
