·It’s an indication that the well of good watches has run dry.
I' d rather say that there are lots of "watch sellers" (or "clowns" 😁) thinking they can get easy money doing shoddy work and pumping prices. Too many parasites create an impression of scarcity IMHO. Is this scarcity real? I don't know. I certainly can find interesting (to me) watches on a regular basis.
