Can anyone let me into the secret of how to remove the case back on this Polerouter. It has a faint serial number on the case back 235101-3?

I think you need to use a case knife. If you are not familiar with its use, google up.

Are you thinking monocoque case design with the split stem releasing and the crystal being removed to access the movement.

Yes. If you look at the stem it appears to have a coupling for that kind of application. Equally you can see that the caseback is recessed for the small 256a automatic calibre and I can't see a gap that would indicate a traditional, separate caseback.

Ok thank you - sounds as if I need a special tool to remove the Perspex cover - might be a job for the watchmaker rather than me this time around. I was going to check on the condition of the movement for servicing.
