    Universal Geneve Chronograph.."Verga"
I believe it was purchased in 1938 in Milan and it is 18K gold and in perfect working conditition.
Can anyone tell me any more information?

Never seen anything like it. Too unlikely to not be legit. Most interesting. Guard it well.

Nice, Verga is quite common to be associated with UG. Can you please take a more focussed photo of the dial?

You focused on the strap .... tap the actual watch when it's in the view and it should focus a bit better on the dial ...

Hold your finger on the subject, it turns your iPhone camera to "macro" mode, then take the picture.

I'm starting to think your dial really is blurry.

    You're not related to @rolokr are you?:D

Luigi Verga originally set up a very well known Rolex (and other fine watches) dealership in Milano. The business started around the end of WWII and is still going. The watch you have would have been retailed and sold by his dealership and is appropriately signed as was the custom back in that era. Date of sale would have been 1945 or thereabouts.

Nice piece of history. There are some images of Verga signed UGs in salas book I think ...

There is a 7396 in Sala marked as a Uni-Compax and without the Verga branding. Calibre 289 and 26x26mm (it's in the Lady-Carre section). The serial number in the Sala model is quoted as 722*** and attributed to 1939.

    Very nice.

Should be a Valjoux 69 inside. The smallest chronograph movement. Great Catch!

You should not hold the watch while taking pictures, that makes the focus nearly impossible. Just put the watch on the table, focus on the dial, hold the iPhone firmly in good light and you will get a good picture... nice watch!

Since the Serial No. indicates a production date of c. 1938 where was the watch between that time and Verga starting his business. If it was acquired as a second-hand item would it have been "appropriately signed" by Verga?

Who knows, I would have thought it more likely that dial has been replaced at some point ...

Also important, the picture gets blurry if you don't have anything supporting the phone. If you use an object to rest the phone on (for example a mug or a small box), then the phone will be much more focused.

I like this. When it comes from a seasoned expert as LouS. Too many disregard watches just because they have not seen one like it before.
