路Hi all
For sale is a Universal Geneve Aerocompax, made in the 1960s with the Venus 178 movement (UG 90). This watch is in phenomenal condition, but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. These don't come up for sale very often, and given how in-demand UGs are nowadays, this likely wouldn't be for sale for long. There are many Tricompax's out there, but these are a lot rarer.
It's a 24-hour dial, which means the hour hand (the hand with the pointier end) only goes around the dial once a day. Interestingly, this is a specially modified Venus 178 in that the minute register counts for 15-minutes instead of the standard 30 - which means the minute chrono hand jumps every 30 seconds instead of every minute. I've only seen this in a few Breitling Co-pilots - in my opinion, this is so much nicer. The hands show a blue-ness under different lighting which adds an interesting character to the watch.
This was just serviced in August 2015, so it's ready to go for a long time. It also comes in a brand new Bulang and Son's 22mm strap, as pictured.
Size wise, it's large at ~41mm without crown - if those Tricompax's feel too small for you, this is a watch that will give you lots of presence.
The only imperfections with the dial are a small mark at the 8pm (4pm on 12-hour dials) position and just next to the 12hour mark on the hour register. There are some scratches on the bezel, but those are minute and can be carefully polished away if need be.
The serial number at the back are faint, but still visible under some lighting conditions (that's also an issue with many of the later UG Compaxes). Unfortunately I wasn't able to capture them on camera, but it's a ref 890100/01, with S/N 2367245.
Price: $10,750, (add 3% for Paypal). Insured shipping across the United States.
Thanks OF for the space, and let me know if you have any questions.
