I am a new-joiner and would like to have the forums opinion on the following watch I consider to purchase:
I own amongst others an IMOWA (1936), Chronograph, Rolex GMT II 1994 and buy to wear and enjoy my watches according to my daily activities

I am negotiating with the seller (respected watch dealer, with a good name in the market).
dial, case, movement confirmed to be original.
8.5/10 points

1. it looks to me as dial is a bit too crispy for the age? what was done with it?

2. Are numbers also on the movement? if different to case, why?

3. The movement looks with little corrosion? working properly with guarantee of revision. I am asking a movie to show me the working conditions of the different functions.

4. Restored hands and moon-face?

thank you

Christoph

1) I think the dial is fine. Correct and genuine for the period, I would think it could have come with the case.
2) UG has no movement number and case number matching so that is not an issue
3) the movement looks fine for its age
4) sub second hand looks repainted or replaced rests look fine. Moon phase Disc is from a later period so it also has been replaced

watch seems to be made between 1943-1945 given the serial number. Day of the week and month wheels seem to be both French so no red flag there either.

Seems to me like the crown is not correct. The "U" seen on that crown was used in the 60’s – the serial of yours puts it into the 1943-45 period.

… and one more thing: request a picture of the pushers on the other side of the crown. these are used for the setting of the moonphase and the calendar. It’s better if they are still original. I once owned a very nice Tri-Compax with a replaced pusher – it was a nightmare. If you request a video of the functions, let the seller show you the setting of the calendar as well would be my advice.

Good looking watch. It’s had a factory service at some point in its life ( crown and moon disk) ...
