I agree I think that both of the above are original. The original compurs seemed to have a lot of variance on the sector markers angle relatice to the numbers.. You can see that while off on the angle it still points to the 35 (general area anyway!), and is consistent with the 25 and 55. I had actually corresponded with Sala on an issue like this a while back. He told me the same , variances dial to dial by dial makers.

FWIW From Mr. Sala:
this dial is absolutely original. It was made by another dial-maker who worked for UG.
It is very rare but original, I enclose two pictures of 2 watches of mine with dials as this.
Best regards
PG.SALA

Does anyone know who was this another dial-maker?
I know that Spillman delivered cases, Martel watch co. delivered movements but dont know this one ‍♂️

I think there is not much to debate about the dial Color and styling. There are some variations and they all look legit. The issue is whether it has been redialed or not and borrowing the pictures from the posts earlier.

The style of this dial is legit the issue is there are signs of redialing, look at the big 6 at 6 o’clock. The 55 at 1130. The 5 and the 3 at the 3 o’clock subdial. They are either not crisp or the fonts are whacky.

100% agree. It’s sloppy. But seems that it has support as legit.

Is it possible some print sloppiness is due to crystal scratching /distortion?

Also possible is that Universal was pumping out watches at this time. Different dial makers and sense for industrial scale production could ease some quality control restrictions..
