I was looking for an early Universal Chronograph for "daily" wear for a while, as my early Tri-compax is for sure no "daily rocker". Upcoming birthday gave myself a good reason to look out for a decent watch for a decent price. Found an nice Universal Compur with some "smaller issues", but as said good as a daily rocker... The issues: The stop second hand has been changed, upper pusher repaired, some numbers on the dial have been retouched, missing Compur on the dial (service dial?). The pros: Nice 37mm case in stainless steel with Jeanneret(sque) lugs. Serial and production numbers time correct for around 1941 and a good looking and signed Cal. 287 movement Just need two female springbars and a nice strap...
Inclined to say service dial but I defer to the Compur experts. Transition Compur to Uni dial? Dial made for retailer customization? Roman Numeral fonts seem much wider than the Sala references. Nice piece though.
Looks like a complete old redial to me However, the case is really nice Just need an original dial and a strap
