Guys Was watching this Universal chrono being hammered today on auction at a small auction house in Sweden. Hammered price 12,4k$ buyers premium included. Obviously a sock drawer specimen, and I haven't seen the model before. I know also that Universal chronos are hyped. But nevertheless.. Since I'm curious, is it anybody with insight in these watches that can shed some light over the price? Bargain, overpriced, insane? Why did it fetch such a sum?
great price for an extremely rare reference. A mint example sold recently for $30k. Only a handful have surfaced in the past few years. Another example sold recently for $13k that had incorrect tachy scale, and all the lume dots missing from the dial. This example looks decent, but crown is not original.
I've seen 3 other examples of this model sell over the past couple of months: - As mentioned above, a similar black dial watch with a redone tachymeter sold on eBay for ~13k. - A white (albino) dial in decent shape sold for ~$15k on eBay. - Another white dial in rough, but repairable condition went for ~$10k on a different auction site. From what I've seen, $12-15k is the going market value for an example in reasonable condition.

This watch failed to sell at auction at Kaplans today. To my eye, it is the very same watch as the OP's in this thread. It is now for sale by Kaplans at 118,800Kr, which looks good value relative to the price at which it sold two years ago. https://www.kaplans.se/en/butiken/vara/1491668
Still can't believe there used to be a time when these went for ~$1000 when looking at auction catalogues. On another note, I slightly panicked when I saw the thread title... was expecting something like this: https://omegaforums.net/threads/poor-flagship.82680/
