You'll need 5 correct hands too and, at least, one pusher. Those dials don't appear often and aren't cheap.

I've learned at my own expense that UG is not the better brand for "project watches"

It is worth that in parts so i would say yes. however, be ready to either spend a lot on it or strip it and sell off the parts (case, dial, hands and movement) to recover your money and a bit more or just wear it. I would never be happy with it but some would!

Is it worth the hassle ? you decide ... :)

Anything is possible but, it is a matter of how hard and how long you are willing to look for an original dial as well as hands.

chrome bezel on SS case ? not the first time I am seeing that, should we assume original bezel lost and someone threw on a non-original, perhaps not even UG, bezel ?

To the OP it's worth more than that in parts so I would buy it for sure to part it out. As a project watch that you will correct and keep, that is very ambitious, depends on how patient you are ??!!

I would not do that, this is an uncommon and ancient watch. Could be long, difficult and maybe costly. It is usually cheaper (and of course, easier) to buy watches in good condition than to fix bad ones. Even more so on high end, low production items.

Hmmm. Almost bought a redial UG recently. Glad I didn’t. Frustrating. Guess that makes the hunt

Bottom line as I have personally discovered is that parts are being hoarded, prices are high and even when you think you have purchased a correct part (non returnable terms of course) it doesn’t fit. In this case your task is near impossible. These watches were used hard and not made in large quantities.
