Is it cool to create threads asking for advice/feedback/comments on watches listed in the FS sections? I don't see it being done, don't want to offend.

Well, you can.... but be aware it's possible to get some flak.

Starting a separate thread is better than ask questions on the FS listing.. If the questions could be considered inflammatory towards the seller though, PM to a more senior member would be best. You may have a sense of who to ask given the watch... some will answer, some will not. Don't take offence.

+1 on best to discuss via PM ... definitely not polite to respond on the FS thread. Fair on a listing thread I think to ask for more info if it helps the listing quality. Also fair to say nice things about watch and seller if you have experience to share.

as others have said, if you need outside opinions, I think that is usually done privately.

Also contact the seller directly. They should be happy to answer any questions you have about their item.

I am guessing the OP wants a second opinion on an item, asking the seller may only be useful up to a point if the seller doesn't know or worse still is being economical with the truth.

hard to have a neutral discussion on condition or price with the seller, who obviously has a vested interest, best to ask a third party not selling or interested in buying?

I've had numerous members PM me for an opinion on FS posts, always happy to offer assistance, so PM to another member would be the way I'd like to see it done.

It has been done on here before now but it doesn't tend to look great and can end up reflecting badly on all concerned. Maybe ok for a "neutral" question diplomatically phrased but if it implies that you think the seller might be lying, definitely not. If I were unsure about a watch for sale I'd look at the seller's previous sales record, length of time on the forum, how they seem to be perceived, etc. and decide how much I trust their ethics/judgement accordingly. Otherwise, as suggested above a DISCREET pm enquiry to a member who seems to know this particular model, bearing in mind that they may be a friend of the seller and/or unwilling to get involved. Just my thoughts, others may see it differently.

If I tried all this and still wasn't sure about a watch, I'd just leave it.
