I started looking after those Orange-chrono-handed Speedmasters at the time where most collectors thought they were frankens or custom built 145.012s. I guess I found them attractive after I got my Japan Racing Speedmaster... That orange color touch together with the applied logo and long indexes... I needed one. No matter what. After a long search, the first one, all correct and with matching papers arrived exactly one year ago : I was desperately looking for information about this watch but haven't been able to find anything useful besides some (short) discussions on an italian watch forum. Some month later, WatchProSite published this Article and since then I really started to believe, that Ultraman is real, unlike the Japanese Super Hero... The tipping point was the #SpeedyTuesday event at Omega, by the end of October last year, where I decided to wear my favorite and - to my big surprise - it's been a high curiosity. During Baselworld this year the new Moonwatch Only book was released including Ultraman as a proper model and the whole story/study behind has been published some weeks ago on their website. Yesterday, I've received a second Ultraman : The cristal shows traces of wear, the indexes have lost some tritium but the case is unpolished in a perfect worn condition, correct pushers and an old logo crown. However the indexes appear to miss some tritium, everything reacts as should under black light, interesting : Very happy, the twins are united again after being separated in June 1968, almost 49 years ago. Maybe we'll manage to figure out how many of them have been produced one day. Not so many are known in the community, something about 20-25 pieces so far...
Thank you I've told you I've been waiting my grail to come, last week Nope 145.012-67 SP and yes, for sure, correct range and both with Extracts from the Mother ship
That's amazing. I'd be thrilled just to have one! It's been one of my favorite models since I found out about it. Well done!!
Very cool buddy, so good to see you bringing them together. And that racing Japan... on my list... still.
