Green suede. 1039/516 in top condition. Can't find a pic of the following combos I love : brown leather, black leather racing, beige/tan seatbelt nato...
I respectfully disagree. Users OmegaRolex and rennfahrer posted pics in 2016 that look AMAZING! Add red highlights and you have a great combo.
I think it looks great on either a Snoopy cordura /Jean Rousseau strap with white or orange stitching (or the Joe's or Hadley Roma cheaper substitutes), or a brown rally strap similar to BandRs. That said, mine's arriving Tuesday, so I reserve the right to change my mind I think the stock NATO is a little bright for my taste.
That looks pretty good with the orange stitching. I'm not a big NATO fan (just wasn't brought up with them) so I never got used to the one with the orange stripe so I just used the black calf strap that came with the set and used a brushed Hadley Roma deployant buckle which makes it easier to take on and off and is just more secure (not a huge fan of tang buckles either on new watches). Maybe I'll change down the road but so far the black calf strap works for me. The main show is the dial, and the orange accents, so don't feel a need for a strap that is too bold.
I liked it with the 1171/633 combo, it also the style of the original black leather and reddish orange stitching. I had a replica strap made to match and that’s how I have it now...
A vintage 1116 could work also, and would be a logical reminder due to the ST2 grandmother, the venerable 145.012 ...
I've had the Ultraman since February and neither the NATO strap or calf-skin strap that it came with have won me over. I'm not a NATO type of guy and the smooth black calfskin strap is pretty boring. There were a couple of owners who used green straps and to my eyes the contrast looked pretty interesting. Last week I found a green canvas strap on eBay for less than $30, so worth a try. It's a Eulit (made in Germany) green canvas strap, 20mm x 18mm, so I could use the Omega buckle. Quality is excellent and the green isn't too over the top. Makes for a more interesting look, imo.
