I missed out on the sale of the Speedy Tuesday Ultraman, and the budget gives no hope of scoring one of the vintage ones. When this beauty popped up on the auction site I couldn't resist. Yes, it's not an Omega. I know I shouldn't post it here, but, come on, it sure looks like it could be. Rebranded Lemania 1873 movement - more or less the same as the Omega 861 41.25 mm case with Tachy scale. Sunburst case finishing like the 145.029 or the Speedy Mark series. Nicely patinaed tritium markers A dial face with subdials that look directly lifted from the Speedmaster. Stick hands virtually cloned from the Speedy As I understand it, Wakmann was based in the USA, and did final assembly of watch components procured from several Swiss brands. A history of the brand can be found here: http://www.wakmann.ch/about.php The brand is trying for a resurrection (but, personally, not much interested in their current offerings) Anyway, I'll always be an Omega collector, but this scratched the Ultraman itch for now.
Very nice! The case looks the same as the Omega Chronostop 145.007 and 008 and the Seamaster Soccer Timer 145.019 and 020..
Absolutely, but scaled up in size. Very similar to my 145.006-66 in terms of case shape and side bevels, but that’s only 38mm. This definitely has more wrist presence.
Since we all like photos, here's a shot with a Seamaster 145.006-66 to get a sense of the difference in size
Great find and the Camparo photo for size is awesome. It’s so much bigger than the Speedy although not as thick.
Excellent! Nice to see another one here. Do you happen to have any info on when these were manufactured? Mid 1970s?
