Has anyone used Steve Mangham or Armstrong & Co. Ltd, both in Hampshire?
Their prices seem reasonable and I don’t want to spend more than the watch is worth.
I’m thinking of getting a 1960's automatic watch serviced.

At this stage, just wondering if anyone had used them.

Just a straw in the wind, but thanks

Thanks, and his price range? Bearing in mind that the most expensive watch in my extensive ;) collection is worth £300-400?

Probably best to message him with details of your watch and ask for an estimate

Can I also add, you get what you pay for. Be aware of cheap services.

No, you’re right. I appreciate the advice and should have phrased my comment more carefully. Apologies

Although I certainly understand the idea of not wanting to spend more than a watch is worth to service it, keep in mind that what the watch is worth has little to do with the labour required to service it. If anything, a cheap watch will often take more labour than an expensive watch to get running well.

It’s good that you are asking on the forum for feedback, but also keep in mind that most watch collectors really don’t know if their watch has been serviced well or not.

I don’t know the person you are asking about, but I do know Chris and would not hesitate to recommend him.

    Cheers, Al

    Hi Guys

Many thanks for the kind words - much appreciated. As Al says, it's hard to know if your watch was serviced well as a customer so I tend to overload mine with information and pictures in the hope it makes some things clearer and gives some confidence.

I have never heard of either of those companies either.

    Best regards, Chris
