Thought I'd highly recommend a chap who's just done an outstanding job on sensitively restoring the originally intended finish to a Seamaster Polaris I recently acquired. (Marmite, I know - I actually went from initially dismissing them to appreciating these Genta-designed gems.)

His name is Simon Massey, and he's had over 20 years in the business, having been the manager of the polishing department of Watches Of Switzerland group, and currently the Polishing Instructor at the British School of Watchmaking.

You can easily find him on LinkedIn, or I'm happy to supply his email.

A couple of before and after shots...

Good job but quite simple - satin finish wheel is all that is required for that finish.

Judging from the little ding right at the edge of the glass slightly above the crown, actually quite a bit of material was taken off. Also the corner towards the glas is more rounded then before. Generally it definitely looks better on the wrist like that, but I think there is a way to maintain the original shape of that edge even better.

Yeah, he took off quite a bit there when rounding that out. You can see it at 5 oclock as well, that was a deep gouge. He left the 'top' pretty untouched though, check out near the gold at 2 oclock.

Fortunately this model already has a bit of a 'soft' case, so it isn't as noticable as on other models.

Thanks for thoughts, folks. The gold on these is pretty thick, so he could afford to be a tad more 'aggressive' at spots where needed, I guess. I think he's done a great job to restore the original finish as designed, with very little little compromise to the overall shape.
