My candidate is from the 1970s. An era when men wore leisure suits with bold print shirts, open at the collar, lots of gold (or faux gold) jewellery, platform shoes, and shoulder length hair.

 

My first watch.. Bought with S&H green stamps.

So 1980's.

My late mother did in fact love this watch she gave me as a joke for my 40th birthday when I said I wanted a nice vintage watch, so much so that she bought one for herself, too. I think she must've gotten it at the grocery store or CVS. It has a light show if you push the button at 2:00. I keep it in my watch box with my others.

I used the money that was the real gift to augment my own funds to buy my first Constellation.

 

What was I thinking when I bought the this one several years ago?

Boredom can make you do stupid things

Thought process when buying - It cannot be that bad and I have not got a lime green dial
Thought process on opening the package - It is worse in real life and there is a reason you do not have a lime green dial

But I now kind of respect it a little as it works perfect and is accurate. Built out of the spare steel from a nuclear silo and is indestructible. I call it cockroach

Its best use though is for the occasions you are dragged to by your better half and you know that resistance is futile but you have to cling on to a bit of a protest. Pull back shirt cuff mid family gathering/charity dinner /you need more male friends parties et al and your self esteem drags its ass out of the gutter

Enjoy and by the way I am prepared to rent it out for a small fee

 

Here is my entry - I still can't explain why I bought it. Was it the fluted bezel? The textured dial?

 

I'm almost too ashamed to post mine.

I think it was the result of too much radiation therapy, or more likely, too much Lagavulin and late night eBay browsing.

But it was a Longines. And it was an Automatic, and it was a Five Star Admiral.............

 

I am looking at some of these and thinking I would love to have that.

 

No matter how hard people try to convince me: this is MF-ugly.
