Hi guys, In looking to slowly start a small vintage collection, I stumbled upon an offer for this Uni-Compax. Seems to me the crown may not be original, but what about the dial? Looks fine to me at first view, but I'm hardly experienced enough in these sort of things to make a safe bet and purchase the watch. Your opinions would therefore be greatly appreciated. Who knows, my wallet may be saved in the process Seller pics (don't have bigger ones I'm afraid):
Crown surely not original so is the chronograph hand, I also have high doubts for the dial too. Do you have the picture of the case back (outer and inner), it feels like a put together watch (aka Frankenstein with a fake dial) with out the reference number on the case back to check....
+1 This assessment, case looks genuine (preference and case back). The dial is quite interesting though, I would lean towards redial but on a second look the texture and all I have not seen before also looks quite well done....
Thanks for the feedback, all. Seems like my gut feeling was correct. Just for the sake of "buyer beware", here is the link to the eBay sale.
The listing says they serviced the movement in their workshop. Perhaps they added the crown as well, possibly the hand. The dial texture is what threw me as well; something didn't feel right but I figured the dial could maybe be original.
