is this watch for real? I am pretty new to the UG watches, but never saw one like this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Geneve-Triple-Date-Moonphase-/141785904370?hash=item21031934f2Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
It is indeed a redial, but an excellent one, IMO. A few signs: 1. The constant seconds sundial has a font that Universal Geneve never used. 2. Pay attention to the 15th day of the day calendar. You will notice that, in fact, the entire day calendar was printed off center. 3. The color of the lume is a bit off/weird. 4. The absence of "swiss" at the bottom of the dial, though perhaps there are original examples without it.
redialissimo! An admirable attempt at recreating the correct fonts, but ultimately sloppy execution (sorry to disagree with you guys ). The indices in the main and sub-second dials are sloppy, and as @Modest_Proposal said, the date register is off-center. Another sign is that the lacquer was painted on too thick, so the sub-registers have started to lose definition. Pretty much unavoidable when redial-ing unless it is done expertly.
There's no winning this; people complain if the lug edges are not sharp, and others complain if they are
Look, maybe "excellent" isn't the right word - but when you compare it to other examples of redials, I think this falls into the 80th percentile.
I used to have one just like and some how I missed placed it and I never found it ! This example is nice, most of these SS UG triple date are almost all redialed for some reason. Very nice redial, no swiss at the bottom, 31 in the date register are usually red color. I would have bid on it if I would have seen it !
