Why is it that some of these watches have the Months in English but the Day of the week in a different language? Custom done? Thanks
Oh it took me quite some time to realize what you were asking hahaha I thought you were asking why some watches have different languages than other watches which is obviously because they are produced for and sold in different markets. My bad!
yes seems likely people are mixing and matching, but also sometimes depending on the month and the abbreviation it can looks like english so was just wondering about specific examples
well there are multiple problems in this case, primarily it's a redial, and a bad one. That could be the reason for the mismatch, or if the original dial was also in english, then someone swapped out the day disc
no to mention the mismatched H/M hands and the wrong subdial hand on the date. In fact the only thing decent on that watch is the quite lovely moonphase disc, I want it !!
This one was mine, everything in french, the above was probably similar in terms of the language, before the redial...
to be clear, I'm only interested in the moonphase disc itself, for which I would pay a few hundred, not the rest of the watch, which I have not checked on ebay, but I'm sure is priced in the many thousands.....
dial looks original, obviously lots of patina. I think someone just swapped out the day disc with the wrong language. I'm not sure what's going on with the case, would need more pics, caseback inside/out, movement, crown, etc. minute hand looks wrong. whole thing could be a bit franken, hard to tell from just one photo.
yah not really helpful. we need to see the markings, serial and ref number and UG logos, etc, or the lack thereof. I don't recognize that case offhand, which is why I'm asking. also the condition on the case vs the dial doesn't match at all, etc, etc
