    Hi,

can anyone say if this balance hairspring is for the 21600a/h 218-9 movement?

Or does this movement has the same one for 18000 and 21600 a/h ::confused2::

    Ranfft says:

    18000 A/h:
    218: 28 jewels
    218-2: 28 jewels, date
    218-27: 17 jewels, date
    21600 A/h:
    218-9: 28 jewels
    218-97: 17 jewels

    Any help is highly appreciated...

No. And I don't believe anyone else can...

Why do you want to buy a hairspring?

A good Watchmaker can straighten it up.

Can't quite see what's going on there.

The problem you have is that an 18000 and 21600 hairspring/balance will have to vibrate at different rates so, it's impossible to tell from a photo which size spring you have. If I were you, I'd give it to your watchmaker to resolve.

Fixing hairspring issues is not that easy to be honest but this one looks bad as well (can't quite see your one in the photo) and was fixable. Sometimes bad things happen. Much better to fix this than buy a new spring and balance.

Sometimes these things get damaged through little fault of the owner as they are very delicate. They can be tricky so best to do them early in the morning when there is no caffeine in the system:D. And then it's remove the balance and do a little:

    A little more:

    And a little more:

Final adjustments when it's back on the cock and mounted in the watch. These big pictures make it look not too difficult until you realise the diameter of the outer coil of that spring is about 5 mm (0.2 inches)...

    Good luck @Passover with yours.

    Cheers, Chris
