There was discussion on these on the Ebay subthread but I wanted to add something for posterity, first a few pics.. so it turns out I "have" one of these, sort of, it's the same exact case as the above Gulf version, down to the special engraving on the caseback, but what I thought was interesting is that my dial is just a completely blank gold dial. What this suggests I'm not sure. Please ignore all the marks on the crysal, the dial itself is just a perfect blank gold dial..
IIRC, these are painted dials - correct? I'd say someone cleaned the dial on yours and was extraordinarily thorough
Why put a new, unpainted dial in a case that tired? Also, blanks probably wouldn't leave the dial factory and matched to a movement etc. before the entire process was completed.
here it is out of the case. There look to be two pin holes, perhaps for mounting a U logo at the 12 position. And perhaps even the faintest hint that a U logo was there in the past, although hard to capture with camera. Doesn't really make sense with the "countries" edition, because I don't think those normally have an applied logo. Anyhow, who knows....
Here's another. Apologies for the appalling eBay photo. https://www.ebay.com/itm/153460756023Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
