I am in two minds about this one. Could see it as one with lots of patina as apart from reg hand it is all there ...

thoughts?

I'm normally a sucker for patina but for me this is not uniform enough and just looks like damage. The loss of printing on the dial also puts me off. Obviously any purchase decision depends on price. I presume replacement Nina dials aren't two a penny?

If you're hesitant maybe that's already the answer? Thousands of XXX currency for a watch whose value you're questioning might be questionable in and of itself.

I'm on a similar adventure with my piece and it hasn't been without it's hiccups and is still not quite complete, but with enough patience I think everything will work out in the end both aesthetically and price point. If you can pick it up for the right price and be patient, then it can be a worthwhile experience. However, if you're looking for something sooner rather than later and this purchase would cause you not to be able to jump on something better that may come along then I imagine its best to wait.

Good

priced accordingly
works
correct in every sense apart from register hand

Bad

dial

I expect a dial is likely to cost a bit. recently saw and immaculate one for $4K at a watch fair. off to parma soon. Hopefully ....

Don't you have a drawer full of these already? 😁

This is a poster child for the distinction between patina and damage.

All depends on price and patience on your side... Projects can be a fun thing to do and also rewarding (as well as frustrating though!), it depends also on how much you value the parking of the cash on a watch that in this conditions is not enjoyable at all.
If you find a NOS dial though it might a bargain then!

If you can get a VERY good price on the watch, I might take a chance !

Yikes.
I think you really have to ask yourself:
Would Nina wear it?

if it was priced closer to the value of the usable parts (cal85 movement, case, bezel crown, pushers and possibly a hand or two)...it might be worth it as a donor...otherwise I would pass.
The remaining parts are not looking too good.

Considering a good condition Nina goes for 20k + with a bit of patience and luck, one could have a Nina for less that a quarter of the money. Based on that I see it as a worthwhile investment!
