    Hi,

Id like to seek some expert advice regarding the authenticity of this polerouter. Were polerouter dials made without "polerouter" on the dial? Or os this one a service dial? Does the dial match the case and serial numbers?

    Thanks in advance

I would be worrying about that nasty looking movement more than the dial on this one.:( Would pass on this for that alone...

Are there some that don't state Polerouter on the dial though? In would say no, but would like to know.

Dial looks like a redial to me...fonts wrong, no hash mark over second E in Geneve. The "Universal" is usually bolder/darker than the "Geneve" and the "M" in automatic should have vertical sides not angled like on this dial. Also the lack of minute markers is suspect and it looks like there are luminous markers on the dial at the hours but the hands have no lume. This watch is a turd in every aspect!

Rule of thumb... when the movement looks like that the dial shouldn't look "perfect"......

To @Hijak point, I would be more worried about the movement. As UG is no longer in business it is very hard to repair these movements and this example looks like it is in need of lot of repair.

Did UG ever put "xx jewels" on the dial?

The dial says 26 jewels...the movement has 28 jewels. What does that tell you?

if and when, parts become unavailable, a parts watch can make your day! IF someone hasent swaped out the good parts for cheap or defective parts. - vinn

Haha, gotcha :) I wonder why poor redialers and fakers put that on the dial, when it's so incredibly obvious it shouldn't be there?

and why is the guy taking the photo worrying about using gloves?! Guess it's part of the smoke and mirrors show.

It's kind of funny, isn't it? They always seem the wear gloves when showing really crappy stuff on youtube as well. Like a comparison video I saw between an Orient diver and a Seiko diver (I was looking for a watch to actually dive with). Yes, gloves are mandatory when handling inexpensive steel divers. :)
