I love the fourties/fifties dials with alternating dagger markers and painted numerals. Got my eye on this 2639:

The dial is pristine but look at 3 o’clock:

Those indentations makes me call it a redial. But then I checked my own lumed 2493 dial - and guess what: same pattern at some of the markers, although not so marked:

So I would like your opinion on the 2639 - redial or not?

If it`s only on the 3 marker it is inconsistent, unlike your dial where all the hour markers have this feature ? redailing it and only doing this on the 3 seems ilogical. If It is a "design" thing, to what purpose ? The crown is there but it hardly needs directions. This dial looks good but is puzzling.

I might have an explanation:
The daggers are not riveted but "embossed" through very high pressure and hence are not detachable.
So it is difficult to work (grind) the surface near these markers... see also the surrounding of the 6 marker!
I guess this dial slipped through the QC which was not very serious at that time as we have observed several times...
IMO the dial is in its original condition and not reprinted

^Seems like the most likely explanation to me. Doesn't look like a redial IMO.

That’s a striking watch. Maybe I should be looking for something similar. 😀
