Quite spectacular for Speedmaster enthusiasts is the auction at Bukowskis tomorrow on October 25th in Stockholm. Two first generation Speedmaster watches, reference CK2915-1. This means not only the first generation, but really the very first (‘-1’) models. According to Bukowskis, the pristine CK2915-1 from June 1958 is the most prestigious watch they’ve ever auctioned. Both […]

I wouldn't be surprised if the first one with the original parts/bracelet/tachymeter hits north of $230k. That second one not so much..

I think the second one will be below the 37K Euro (estimate) tbh. There are quite some things wrong with it (bezel, crown, crystal, relumed hands and a dirty looking movement with some damage here and there as well), as I discussed in our article today. The description on the Bukowski website is fair though, although they didnt mention the later crown. The fine one is very nice, except for the bezel, but it looks to be awesome otherwise. Even the movement is very clean looking. I wouldn't dare to put a price tag on it, because it is so rare that bidding can become a 'war' and then it can easily go over 200K.

I was going to guess $165,000, but I guess I'm being too conservative.

RJ, even though the bezel isn’t in the best shape, I’ll gladly take it over a service replacement one. I’m excited to see how the bidding turns out. Record-breaking is my guess.

A person from whom I sourced my 2915 and who has seen many of these and is very close to many of the major collectors is predicting nearer £165,000 than $165,000

Yep, me too but just pointing out the -1 on the scale of 10 is probably because of the bezel ;-). But I am not in the market anyway ;-)

It will be a blast I am sure, a lot of serious collectors (with some resources) keep a close eye on this one I noticed. Let the bidwar begin :)
