    Evening all

A few weeks ago whilst perusing eBay (I've long since given up looking for speedies) I came accross a gorgeous little watch. I took a punt on the non runner and when it arrived I discovered what I had brought

It was a 35mm jumbo 30mm, the movement was seized and the crystal scuffed but it was clear the case was near new and the dial was out of this world.

I've looked through journey through time and checked with 'in the know' friends in high places, the dial is almost identical to one of the examples in journey through time.

The watch has just come back from John Senior at obsolete watches who's done a remarakbale job on it. There is a small imperfection on the dial between 9 and 11 where the second hand once rubbed (it's been shortened since then)

The case is remarkable, the movement pristine and the dial is stunning

So, as if this beauty wasn't enough a week after my first purschase I brought another auction watch, one terrible photograph and a description reading 'old broken omega'

It's spent a couple of weeks winding its way from the states but when I went to the PO to pick up my first watch post service with John this beauty was waiting for me, calibre 30T1 (I think, need to check), jumbo 37.5mm case and again untouched by man or beast, the dial has a lovely patina, movement seized and the balance broken but it's another gem of an all original vintage omega.

She's just gone off to John Senior for a service and will post some pics when it's back, don't expect a transformation though, I believe that when watches of this type are found untouched like this then they should have a movement service only and then be left alone

Overall after what's been a very tough few weeks and an appalling week this week with a family bereavement these two beauties really cheered me up!

Outstanding finds, the dials are superb. I too have given up Speedy hunting on e-bay. The variety of older Omega pieces on the bay seem to scream out at me. Keep hunting. You did great.

Man, you had me at "stunning".

What beautiful dials indeed! Great catch, and worthy reward for diligence on ebay

Thanks chaps, I'm delighted with them both, I must admit the first one is very special watch, not that the second isn't but the first is in such remarkable condition for its age and I adore that dial.

It's been quite a good couple of weeks watch arrival wise (which at least provides a distraction from the other stuff) as this stunner also landed with me, never refishined and other than the odd desk diving mark is just belting, just back from its first ever service with John.

Back from john senior yesterday and on the wrist straight away! Opted for movement only and crystal polish, definitely made the right choice

Nah mate it's simply not worth it......... maybe £47999.99

it's only a poxy 37.5 ex crown and sadly it's not a sector dial

People concepts of rarity do make me laugh, the Phillips sector is a bloody rare thing no doubt but the irony is that a sector dial pocket watch almost identical dial, same size failed to make £150 on a popular auction site
