Came in a while ago, but no time to take pics before now. Sorry for the dust particles A Cal. 505, Ref.2852-53 SC from around 1958: And a Cal. 564, Ref. 168.005/6 from 1967: Crisp observatory (needs a little cleaning): Onyx markers: Yellow gasket and no watchmaker marks inside the caseback = maybe never serviced:
They're fantastic. Them lugs.... I didn't by the way know the ref. 2852/2853 had that bevel on the lugs.
Don't touch the observatory. I think the solid gold versions originally had some kind of darkener applied when new. Looks good to me as is. gatorcpa
wow!!!Nice pickups @Pahawi My first time (I can recall) seeing cal 505 2852-53 in this case. Very sharp lugs too Enjoy !!!
Thanks for the kind words and advice @gatorcpa: Thanks, I'll not touch it then. @JohnSteed: If you, or others, know a cal 505 in a 2852-53 case is a red flag, please let me know? Same goes for the onyx inserts in the other one. If onyx is not possible with a movement# as high as 2563xxxx, please let me know. @CanberraOmega and @Furze: Noted, but since I already have a dibs through PM from the OF'er helping me with the buys (thanks again, sir), you're second and third
Cal 505 in a 2852-53 case should be OK, I have one. Sorry for the poor photos, I can try again if you want better ones. Should be able to make out the bevels in the first one.
Love these examples, guys Hey @Pahawi .... @Tubber .... my experience isn't much to speak of, really. Just noting any such experience is limited to 2852s with this case, in stainless steel ... like this example with lug holes which extend all the way through ... Like this nice example you show us some time ago and looking at dem Lugs
Onyx markers 168.005 with 564? 24 mil serial number is the time they changed to black paint so we can see both black paint and onyx right there.
With a movement# at 2563xxxx, thats not good news for the watch in question. Will an Extract state anything about the type of markers?
