Lovely watches. How big are they?

between33-34mm. They are small watches compared to today standards but they are before all dress watches, so that is fine by me

From the 50s and they look so fresh! A bit intimidated about service costs for vintage jlc, is that true?

I am not a JLC expert - but the one on the right has the same styling as my Master Control Date! Is this their signature or "heritage" style?

More a heritage styling. As far as I know the first generation of master control came on the market in 1993/1994 with cal 889, some of its vintage precedecessors among the jlc mariners and club models had this styling.

I paid 350€ for the handwound watch service and 500€ for the selfwinding watch service, if you go through the jlc route multiply the prices by 2 or 3

Thats reasonable. I did own a futurematic, but that was too much of a cost for me. Couldnt get my ordinary watchmaker to service it and sold it with a loss, ce la vie!

Like my waistline, they've just got bigger over the years. "1958" vs 1958

Beautiful and rare watches but too complicated for me!

But if you were looking for a two watch collection those two would do for every situation you would conceivably find yourself in.

To each his own, I guess. I like to shop around but some nice things out there are just not for me.

I think you need to change your watchmaker. 350 euros for a hand watch revision is pretty excessive. I don't find that servicing jlc's is any more expensive.

Nice vintage watch, not really a fan but it's nice.
