    Hello,

I don't consider myself a collector, but seem to be accumulating watches rather quickly lately. I've had the two below for some time. The stainless steel one belonged to my father and I recall him buying it in the '70's. Will renew my search for an original bracelet. I bought the pie-pan (gold and stainless) from a relative more than 12 years ago. I run them occasionally under the assumption that this will prevent things from gumming up and have not had either serviced in more than 10 years. Your collective assistance would be appreciated on two matters:

First, I really want to know more about them so any additional information on the watches beyond what I have listed above (that's all I know about them) would help me appreciate them more. The second is potential damage to running them without servicing them for so long (lubrication issues?) despite the fact that they are worn maybe 5-10 days a year.

Thanks in advance for your help and hoping to add a new Omega (Planet Ocean GMT) before the year is out. omega.jpg

Nice watches....but you will be getting a stern lecture soon from other members about running them without a service....

I think it's proper to emphasize this re: that fabulous article:

I hope I haven't violated any rules/laws pointing you to the article. If so, someone let me know so I don't do it again!

Bravo! See? I KNEW if we scolded...err...suggested it that you would do the right thing!
It's a priviledge to own such fine examples and be able to trace them back to original family ownership.
I own a priceless square Wittnauer from my grandfather's retirement in 1969. Sadly he passed the next year. It's probably a $50 item on eBay. Did I mention it is priceless?

    Congratulations, you're a collector. :D

Can I ask you the branding on that bracelet? It looks like the Universal Geneve pattern for UG.

Actually just a Spiedel. Hopefully one day I can find an original bracelet. A few years back spent some time looking for one with no luck. Was one of the "brick work" ones. Allowed an uncle-in-law to take possession of the original since it was too small and was hoping he could find some additional links, and unfortunately he lost it. Forgiveness took a while when I found out how difficult it was to get a replacement.

Difficult for me to believe that the watch is now almost 50 years old and that it has been in the family now for probably around 45 years. Apart from the fact that I am getting older, it truly is priceless for the same reason. Looked at selling it years ago and thank god I was not quite that stupid.

I notice you use bond bracelet, I am syrprised it could fit C case.

Based on the superb article Time Exposure provided me I assumed the caliber in mine was a 751, but I might be wrong.

With regard to the bracelet I remember going to a watchmaker and going through his bracelets until something fit.

I would guess your calibre would be 561. Easy way to distinguish it is the function whether date only or day date. Both chronometer rated

Hey, when did you get that? Have you ever shown it before? I'm SURE I'd remember a C-case like that.

    For Constellation C-cases.....
    Smooth bezel and date only = caliber 56x (561 or 564) inside a 168.017
    Smooth bezel and day / date = caliber 751 inside a 168.019
Knurled bezel and date only = caliber 56x inside a 168.027
    Knurled bezel and day /date = caliber 751 inside a 168.029

As I have proven I am not the expert. But looking at these on my phone, I like them a lot. I am considering a second Omega and I always go back in my mind to the aqua terra. Simple and smooth. Yours just have class written all over them.
