1969. Zenith and Movado were joined under the same holding company in that year and began to share some movements - the 146 HP that powers both is a Zenith engine. This pair represents one of the first instances of a "twin" model issue. The Movado version continues some design cues from a diver model that it had already produced, whereas the Zenith was the house's first effort at a diver-style chronograph.

Porno featuring fraternal twins is rare and a real treat Lou. Thanks for the great photos.

These are very cool watches. I kind of like the similarities between them and manual wind Autavias, which I really love. But on the other hand they have a totally unique design. I like the Zenith a little more. It is more reduced and the simpler layout of the dial is very nice.

Do we (you) know something about the production numbers of these references? I saw the Movado with lots of different hand sets. Are they all genuine or later replacements?

BTW: Lous, your El Primero guide is such a nice reference text. I ever look at it when I think about buying a Zenith EP. Thanks!

Lovely twins Lou......another spectatular Zeniths showcase.
While I know for sure Zenith brand worth a lot more than Movado, in this case I prefer the Movado dial styling better.

thanks for the kind words - I've really got to post an updated guide on this forum one of these days.

Regarding the Movado handset, I can only go by the catalog pic which suggests that this handset at least is correct:

It doesn't rule out other equally correct versions, of course.

As for production numbers, no idea. Anyone?

Some days I prefer the Zenith, others the Movado. The Zenith is direct, perhaps a little brutish, very much the unadorned toolwatch. The Movado gives a more delicate, more finished impression. It depends on my mood.
