Twitter to X - the (interesting) Musk backstory...

(The first post by Tony C was pretty enlightening. If anything, group think seems to have sold us on Musk's brilliance.)

One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.

Multiple factual posts with supporting evidence is ridiculed as group think and wrong…

perhaps confirmation bias is at play and you feel like your special because you know something that no one else does?

idk just musing not directed at anyone.

Well it surprising that this thread has stayed so civil, shows that sensible men ( and women) can talk rationally and not resort to name calling etcetera however its still time for a cat photo.

I feel bad because I've considered Musk a colossal douche and charlatan for well over 10 years; I sadly was already far down the track, way ahead of the groupthink train. Back than he was very much adored by the media, and many people around me. He just always struck me as insincere. And he definitely hasn't done anything in the past year or two to make me reconsider my opinion.

Super funny, had a fake elon bot account follow me on IG after all this talk went down in the thread yesterday.

Who's gonna own up to it? LOL

Those kids in Massachusetts were full of "supporting evidence" that was deemed "factual" ... but actually wasn't. Go figure.

You can still tell people today that supposed "facts" they "know" about Donald Trump aren't even close to being true, but hey, they heard it on CNN so it must be.

idk just musing

That’s the second time you’ve tried to turn a discussion about Elon Musk into one about Trump.

But funnily enough no-one has taken the bait.

Is there something you want to get off your chest?

If so, please feel free to start your own thread about the other great misunderstood wonder of our times.

I s’pose there is one thing in Musk’s favour, he might be a rotten rich bastard, but at least he’s not sunk to being a rotten rich bastard politician……YET!

I think if I have learned anything, it is to not expect anything logical, reasonable, or consistent from people who tout conspiracy theories and are illogical...

Care to elaborate? Also a supporter of calls to genocide?

There's context in the tweets you've missed.

Two other things:

I'm not a fan of the New York Times and haven't been for years;

Your implication here isn't a constructive attempt at conversation or clarification.

How can anything be missed if it is not there? 😵‍💫 I mean, nobody alive is truly clairvoyant

Your implication here isn't a constructive attempt at conversation or clarification.

And your series of vague statements is?

This is how yours reads to a non-clairvoyant who does not follow twitter/X : the very real calls for genocide (that have been happening - the calls , and the resulting brutal murders - for a long time) and support thereof in an article are wholly ok and eclipsed by the fact that someone’s outrage at this and retaliation by trying to bypass the monetization of it is the outrageous bit.

So, if i am reading wrong, care to elaborate your stance/statements and fill in the gaps for the rest of the world who are not clairvoyant and don’t care to follow twitter?

C'mon. The response of @ErichPryde to the tweet that was embedded in my post (above) obviously addressed broader issues, and not the specific genocide reference. You are the one who, for some reason (gotcha!, perhaps?), decided to focus on that.

Furthermore, that specific aspect of the tweet wasn't referred to either by coloradotravis, who had embedded it in one of his own, and used it solely to point out the absurdity of the man who bought Twitter facilitating the avoidance of supporting another major company that derives its revues similarly.

No clairvoyance required to understand any of this, only a careful reading.

This wasn't lost on me. It is a repulsive sign of the times that people care more for 'absurdity' relating to prominent people and 'monetization' than actual 'humanity'. The embedded tweet being glossed over is an order of magnitude louder (and more absurd) to my eyes than the point of coloradotravis. @ErichPryde also hinted that THAT was a conspiracy theory. So, you got me 😉 Thanks for the clarification.
