Tudor Rolex Oyster 7934 - legit?

Hi all

Hopefully I’ve posted this in the right place

Found this supposed 7934 oyster royal with a honeycomb dial but couple of things making me wonder if it’s a bit of a frankenstein:

1. Case back engraving - janky reference and serial number obscured (no ref between case lugs but think that’s normal for period?)
2. Can’t see another example of this applied numerals to even number only dial anywhere

Bracelet not period correct (stamped 71). On the other hand movement looks fine

Am i right to be concerned?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Add to cost of paying attention to everything this watch needs to the cost of acquiring it, and you’ll have more tied up in it than you would if you bought a better example.

I see no immediate cause for concern about the legitimacy of the watch. As noted, the bracelet is not original, but it appears authentic and is worth a few hundred. Obviously, there are some condition issues, but that's your choice and is based on price. In addition to the obvious cosmetic issues, I suspect that the threads are stripped on the crown tube.

Appreciate the eyes on it and the reassurance

Have got it for fairly cheap and i’m starting to do some of my own work so hopefully can replace the crystal and crown tube myself. Noted on the bracelet - i’m a strap guy so might clean up and sell that to offset.

I bet it will clean up pretty well, sounds like a fun project since you got it cheap!

I have a very similar watch in the same ref. I suspect one of the previous owner tried to keep the ref number by free hand engraving once it started to wear off. Janky yes but the right caseback for a 50’s model.

It all looks ok other than that. Here is a pic of mine. It’s a 1959.
