I love the look of it. The pencil hands would have been awesome but this is definitely one I would like to get my hands on!

Superb package - I thought they would have used their in house movement in this one? Certainly not a deal breaker - it's a great looking bit of kit for sure.

While at a Hodinkee event I spoke to a few of their guys and the consensus is that the entire Black Bay range will be upgraded to the in-house movement within 12-18 months, but there's the issue of completely redesigning the case, hands, dial, etc to accommodate the different architecture of the new movement. Also, they proffered the notion that the Black Bay Black was kind of a "tide them over" bit of design so they can keep up interest and thus sales of the Black Bay before taking the next step towards fully in-house.

I actually don't mind the ETA in the Black Bay since it's a workhorse movement, if a little short on the power reserve.

Makes sense and agree nothing wrong with the ETA movement - thanks for the update, yinzerniner 😀

I'm really liking what Tudor is doing these days, and while I still prefer the icy cool blue bezel version, this is great to see! Gonna wait to see what happens with the in-house movement; worst-case scenario is it's not as attractive a watch but will still push resale values of the ETA model down, thus making it easier to acquire! 😉 (At least that's what I think might happen in that case)

I may very well get the black one. I also love the leather and the fabric straps as I can easily see using them on my current Rolex watches. The E1 on the leather should lok really good. same for the 16710 on fabric. or the subs on either....

But, straps aside, I love the rose gold choice for the markers and hands, I like the smooth rigged bezels, the lack of crown guards and all for a very fair price point.

It's not quite up there with the Black Bay One, but it's very nice.

May be a challenge to my impending 300 Master Coaxial purchase.

Both are great choices. The Tudor a little more pure imo, the 300 more elegant

I really like this! If I really must nit-pick... why not a matching faux patina bezel pip??
Cannot wait to see it in the flesh...

It's a pretty deal, but some details annoy me. The markers, which are round, clashes with the angular hands and that crown tube… Looks as if the crown is permanently out. If I were to have one, though, I'd much prefer this over the in-house version, as it's bound to have same literature package on the dial as they threw on the updated Pelagos, unbalancing the clean design 🤦

bye bye Speedmaster.

The Tudor Black Bay Black is so beautiful. Reminds me of Sean Connery's watch in Goldfinger. Vintage rolex/tudor look without the vintage price and Rolex premium. I'm so excited for this watch to come out!!

Not a huge fan of the Black Bay and would much prefer a vintage Tudor Sub - though it's not high on my personal want list.

On this latest release, the gilt print is a nice touch. The gold hands/markers... meh... takes away from it for me.

Beautiful watch, but that hour hand........

The hands and round markers are simply a throwback to the past. I just happened to finish this up recently and it is shipping back to the owner today - as received:

And as sent back - only movement parts replaced and seals - still the original crystal.

Having said that, I like the pencil hands on the Only Watch much better. I also would prefer an ETA version, both for the clean dial that will most certainly have a book written on it when they go in house, and for ease of obtaining parts.

You should get one! I wear mine a lot!

Cheers, Al

This watch looks great!

I'm really happy that modern watch companies are starting to incorporate more of their heritage into their modern watches. Rolex, please take note!

I would rather the Pelagos as I prefer modern interpretation of heritage instead of imitation.

Nevertheless: it is horrible so much literature in the dial of the Pelagos.
