    Hey all.

So I'm letting go for my 45.5mm PO and looking to fund either the above mentioned watches.

I'm leaning towards the Tudor because of the hands are more unique as compared to the hallowed ones of the SMP.

However I like the SMP height as compared to the Black Bay...

Anyone who has both or was in the same situation as me... which did you choose?

    Any regrets?

    Cheers

I would go with the black SMPc...it's the perfect size, and you won't see any knockoffs. Tudor is a great watch with a respectable reputation, but it has the Submariner look...which Omega does not. If you have your heart set on a Tudor Black Bay, I'd consider the S&G...that's a much better looking piece. Good luck with your selection.

The highly original design, like no other, ceramic bezel and overall feel and beauty of the watch, I would pick the SMPc [IMG][IMG]

My aesthetic preference leans towards the Black Bay. If you're concerned about the height, try and pick up an ETA version, which is noticibly thinner than the new, in-house model. As a bonus, the rose on the dial and circular script looks awesome, IMHO.

I also think that the BB has a better chance of retaining its value long-term, particularly if you can buy the ETA Black Bay Black at a reasonable price.

All that said, the SMPc is a killer watch as well. I escpecially like the black dialled version.

I'd go SMPc and not think twice about it. It's a much more iconic watch, and with the adjustable clasp, is the perfect dive watch.

All personal preference. I thought I liked the eta BB until I tried it on. Once I did I had a strong reaction to it on my wrist and realized it's not for me. Right now I'd go 300mc(Spectre preferred), 2500d 42mm PO maybe the ceramic? Then SMPc.

I'm torn between the blue dial Globemaster and the Seamaster 300 in steel for my next watch. Both amazing, and I have a ton of dive watches, but the Seamaster 300 is just special I think.

Well... when we open it up to non dive/everyday watches.. yeah I tried the Blue Globemaster on... yeah it's short listed for my next buy.

But I agree the 300mc is pretty much perfect

Of the two watches you are considering, I would choose the Black Bay in black (I am biased, I have one). As others mentioned, try to find the ETA version - it looks great on a NATO and I also love mine on the new RubberB strap. Whilst the SMP is undoubtedly a great watch, I just can't get past the aesthetics of the bracelet (personally I don't think it looks good) and I'm not a fan of the bezel shape.

As for those thinking of getting the Globemaster in blue, I am wearing one right now so I figured I ought to attach an enabling photo...

    Bought this:
    Black Bay Blue (ETA)

And after that I sold this:
    PO 2500D XL

I have a 7" wrist, the size and weight of the Planet Ocean bothered me for everyday wear.
Lug to lug is 52mm for the PO, 50mm for the Black Bay.

    No regrets here!

The blue SMPc is one of the best watches in history and, as an added bonus, is superb value for money.

I mentioned this in another post as well - but for me, even the ETA version of the Tudor was too thick. Would go SMPc!

Couldn't agreed more. Had both and sold BB after 5 days, on a wrist this watch was everything but comfortable. Case side is huge, long and massive lugs work on the wrist like nails. Perhaps in-house model with almost 2mm extra height caseback is more comfortable, have no idea. Still BB is a beatiful watch, if I ever rebuy it will be the model with in-house.
Frankly I do not understand why SMPc and BB have some many duels, apart of the budget they are totaly different watches.
With regards to wear&feel I would confront BB with PO, though PO is still a winner for me.

In my experience, nothing beats the SMPc in the comfort department [IMG]

I was in the same boat until last Friday. Bought a 300 in black. Should be here in a couple of days.

You wear your NATOs the wrong way around, just FYI. Also check out Haveston straps if you don't like the bulk of the tail.

I tried on both. Preferred the 300m. I've actually forgotten to take it off before going to bed. I also didn't care for the Tudor's hour hand.

Wow! That thing is a monster! On my dainty wrist, it would look like a shackles!
