I recently placed a bid on an item and trying to figure out the auction bidding history. My bid was placed a few seconds before auction end using a sniper tool. My bid appears on the bidding history yet there are several bids well above my amount before my bid. My understanding is,that being outbid, my bid shouldn't have appeared. What's up?

Could it be because you're logged in. Open an incognito browser and lookup the sold item do you see the same thing?

That makes no sense to me, except that the table is ordered by date and time, rather than bid amount, which is what I'm used to seeing. I can't change the table sort order, but maybe that is a feature in your jurisdiction.

Now that I have found it too, I see that the table is in bid amount order when automatic bids are omitted, but in date and time order when the automatic bids are included.

Your bid shows up regardless of being outbid or not. I do find it interesting that it's displayed higher than the others who had bid more earlier

I don't understand this either. 935 had already been bid at 19:59:06 so the 723 bid at 19:59:55 should have been rejected, irrespective of whether it was a snipe or a manual bid.

It's all about the order of the tables, and whether the bids are actual or automatic.

Here's what I initially saw (without the automatic bids) which got me confused. It shows that three bidders bidded at the same time (7:59:55 PDT). No problem with that. What is weird is that (716) shows a bid amounts that don't make sense to me. Shouldn't it have a single bid of $660 when he surpassed (228)? His shown bids instead seem to show (716) maximum bids.

Same here. I can't change the order.

Not necessarily. When he bid the first time, an auto bid, which you don't see in that table, might have outbid him, so he did another manual bid.

No, I now realise that the order is different whether you include or exclude the automatic bids.

I agree but if you look at my first post with the automatic bids it does not show this happening.

It looks like all bidders were sniping so the bids all hit at the same time.

Yes it does, a $909.00 by o***g. The auto bids have the same time stamp as the original manual bid, not the time of auto bid.

Edit: sorry, by (44). The eBay cryptic names are different in your and my screenshots.

    (
    (44) bidded in the last few seconds (like me). I think (716) bidded an amount at earlier time at which he became leading bidder, then subsequently raised that amount even though he was leading. What I find weird is the simplified table shows (716) maximum bids, not leading bids. Usually the simplified table only shows leading bids.

Here is the auto bid table in date time order. Frankly, I have no idea what happened with (716), except that it shows he raised his own bid.
