i was thinking about the watch collecting thing and what it is all about and then felt the need to explore the dictionary meaning g of addiction.
    F@*k I'm addicted:confused:
    1. the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

    Watches vs. Drugs:

Watch dealers don't get shot by clients for bad product.

Watch dealers don't get shot by rival watch dealers.

A watch dealer has never been snitched on by a client.

    Used watches have resale value.

The government isn't waging a war on watches.

Good watches make you prompt - good drugs make you late.

10+ speedmasters... There are addicts here that have 2-3 speedmasters.

Plain old badass when you can spell out OF with your speedys.

I can think of a so called dealer who frequented these parts quite recently who might end up close to proving you wrong on this one, judging by the questions they were asking ;)

Before buying my Seamaster, all of my watches were very average, nothing you couldn't find in a nice department store. Now I am fascinated with these things and can't stop planning my next acquisition. The Seamaster is a gateway drug.

And as for this moral dilemma, worrying about that is really your significant other's job, you don't get away with speeding and then worry if you should turn yourself in to the cops because its their job to catch you. If you're not on the couch yet, you're not trying hard enough

If you think it is bad to have a watch addiction, just think of the poor staff here. It is one thing to be able to hide your watches at home, another to have to hide you time on the forums from your boss or friends, but try to hide the forum time from your wife or other, when you are constantly logged on 24-7. "Dear I'll be there as soon as I can, I'm helping humanity ::facepalm2::"

Better than her having to go from dive bar to dive bar to track you down. ;)

I think the problem lies in the thread title.

How can you rationalise the irrational?

That's the best part about rationalizations - they always woRk! It has more to do with the mind of the rationalizer than rationality.
