Hi all, I haven't found many resources about that model. I'd love to learn more about it. How many watches were produced, what the different versions were, dials, hands, etc. I don't see them coming up for sale often, I am guessing they're still pretty rare (not 2998-2 rare but at least 2998 rare?). Looking forward to what you can share. Erik
I'm sure you've seen this right? http://forums.watchuseek.com/f27/ov...tainless-steel-models-1969-1975-a-586997.html Best place to start....
Then there's these 2 links: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f27/pr...early-el-primeros-general-remarks-431440.html http://forums.watchuseek.com/f27/pr...early-el-primeros-specific-models-431451.html
Be very very careful about A385s with forged/fake casebacks! http://forums.watchuseek.com/f27/forged-zenith-386-caseback-debate-summary-759217.html http://forums.watchuseek.com/f27/more-386-serial-numbers-dials-casebacks-forgeries-762836.html
A386 are not extremely rare as 2500 were produced (estimate) but it is each more difficult to find one in nice and original condition. Among mark1, 2 and 3 the mark1 is the rarest (400-500 pieces made?) The easiest way to identify different variations is the case and the caseback (serial number) with a lot of caution as there are a lot of frankens. Also service parts are very common (wrong crown, hands, dial, tachymeter...)
