... and here's the Jezebel causing the problem:

    ΩAT38.5blue.jpg

I tried the silver dialed version of this watch at the Omega Boutique in NYC a couple years ago. It fit really well. The problem is that I don't want 2 modern watches with blue dials, which means the Portofino would have to go. It's a rock steady performer and an excellent watch - but the siren's call of the caliber 8500 is getting stronger. Might have to make a trip to my AD soon to see if something can be worked out. I've always said that if Omega came out with a blue dialed version of the 38.5 mm AT I'd own one so it might be time to put my money where my mouth is.

Omega's one of few who get one thing right. A dark colored dial needs to have a black/dark color date disk.

True that, the most annoying feature of the Patek 5711 is that stupid white date disk

    Dennis,
Go for it....! When I bought mine, my SMP GMT seldom get wrist time again. Both have sapphire caseback, but only the Aqua Terra that makes me frequently take it from my wrist just to see the movement (yes...yes I admit I am still smitten by this silly 'able to see movement working' thing :p). Just by appearance 8500 beats 2500 easily.
The teak dial is also awesome

You guys must have cameras around here. She came in the office while I was looking at it and starts with "mine? mine? mine?" like the seagulls in Nemo.

    Compromise:

You can get it with a steel bracelet if you want instead.

    I love spending your money...:)

I've seen that watch and really like it. Chocolate and rose gold make for a great combination. It's just too dressy for a sports watch. The all ss with the blue dial is still the cream of the Aqua Terra crop for me.

:p Actually, as long as I collect ultra-thins I'll always have the turtle lug caliber 401.

Might be sooner than you think - unless you want first crack. PM me if you do.

Stop posting pictures of watches with blue dials! These have the potential to derail my attemps for budget discipline.....:whistling:
