You cannot keep them all, and with much reluctance, I am parting with my tropic 1005. The watch was purchased new at the Guantanamo Bay Navy Exchange on Oct. 7, 1962...a week before the start of the Cuban Missile Crisis. The owner was a Master Chief Petty Officer for Patrol Squadron 1 (VP-1), an anti-submarine patrol. The watch saw action in Vietnam as well, and owner retired from service in the 1970's I believe. The watch was sent back to Rolex NY in 1989 for a full service, and thank goodness the dial and hands were not replaced. It comes with full RSC paperwork as well as original Rolex Guarantee and case back stickers. The gilt dial is a killer tobacco brown that changes colors under different light, and there is a slight bit of black gilt still present from where a shirt cuff covered the dial. The case has been polished by RSC and is in great shape. The movement is running well, and has not been serviced since 1989. It comes with a nice leather strap as pictured. Asking $3495 OBRO shipped in the CONUS via registered mail on this truly unique vintage Rolex. Payment by bank wire or BOA deposit. Plenty of references. More than happy to discuss the watch with any interested parties and can provide more pics if necessary, email watchknut AT gmail.com or call/text 202.531.4343.
Wish the £/$ was a little healthier, but it's not, you might have heard, it's been mentioned in the news. GLWS!
