    Hi,
I am new to watches and I hope I am learning fast especially about Rolexs.

Can you tell me about Tritium dials did they definitely finish in 1998. A friend has an Explorer II and he says he had it from new serial is a Y (2002) but it has a Tritium dial SWISS T 25?????

One last question why are some later dials saying SWISS and others say SWISS MADE?

    Thanks,

    Darren.

I don't know what the exact date is but you would imagine there was a changeover period that was gradual. In early watches Swiss without Ts could mean Radium, from memory Rolex used Swiss in the 1998-2000 period and then Swiss Made from 2000+

Thanks for the reply I had noticed just SWISS on a lot of 1999-2000 so that really helps with my knowledge bank :)

Can't see A Tritium past 1998 so not sure why a 2002 would have one, it's a long time from 1998.....

    ATB.

For modern Rolexes, Swiss = luminova (~98-00) and Swiss Made = super luminova (00-).
