Any comments on this tri compax please. The dial looks a bit washed out to me,but seems to be original.is it worth the 3.5k asking price. Cheers
Need to see the back but here is mine for reference. 2242. This looks really good. Price is very low. Is this a plated case? Reference And SN is what is needed.
Over Polished ... Mid forties ...Case, Dial and hands fit the period. Should have a cal 281; 283; or 481. See if you can get a movement pic. Price makes me suspicious. Watches like this can push the $8k mark. Is this a dealer?
Yes a dealer, unfortunately on hold now though. I hesitated and lost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ok thanks.one final question if you don't mind. What do you think of this UG as an alternative to the speedmaster. 1980 year, serial 184.445,18k gold,asking4.5k us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would like to hear from the experts on this. Certainly attractive. Haven't seen lume like that on the hands, should the moon phase have a face? I don't know, something gives me pause, not to mention the price. Agree with Larry on that later UG, no good. Get a nice 145.012 or transitional. Prices are just climbing and climbing but I still think you will do fine to get in now. I got the 145.012 in my avi pic for $3300 4 years ago, with bracelet, probably worth twice that now, maybe more.
The caseback without ref. and serial number is not very usual. Don't know if possible but, definitely, not very usual. 3,5k is not expensive but is not a bargain for a 34mm. Here is mine 22279 (dial and case back): The second one is Compax reedition from the 80's or early 90's. The caliber is the Lemania 1873 (the same as the Speedmaster cal. 861). Is a good watch but not very desirable in a collector's point of view. The SS version can be found for around 1k. Here is mine:
are you assuming from that one sideways shot there is no serial or ref # on the caseback? It certainly doesn't look like it, but hard to tell for sure without a straight on shot of the back. yours is a nice looking 22279. I feel like the lume on your alpha hands (lighter) is what I see more often. Not saying the OP's is wrong, just dont see it as often.
I'm assuming that the caseback shown is from the watch posted in first place and, maybe from the angle, i don't see the ref. or serial or sign of them
I want to the website of this dealer. Lots of inventory but shoddy information. I'd not buy without full shots inside / out case back and movement.
This dealer is local to me and have been previously discussed on this forum for a franken UG, I would personally avoid them.
I was going to PM you about them but quickly came to that conclusion when I perused the site. Their product descriptions showed little concern for accuracy or brand knowledge. This seems to be a disease afflicting many resellers.
