Seemed like a good time to add this watch to the mix, with the recent discussions.

29mm case. Dial says Universal Sport....Waterproof....Shockproof....

    It's a caliber 251.

Sadly the case back is missing.

The case is an outstanding hunk of metal, very heavy! The dial is not too bad IMO, and the hands look original. Just need to try and get the movement running and sort out a caseback. Seems like an impossible part to find, but maybe something can be rigged just to make the watch wearable.

    Any info appreciated....

Doesn't look like a tre tacche style, but here is a similar Longines I have from 1939.

Is that a SnapBack case? I think the key here is the waterproof feature?

Yes, it is a snap back. So I'm not sure what yours is. I've seen them with screw on and snap backs.

It's interesting that this dial says universal sport and not universal geneve, universal watch, etc.

Does anyone else have other examples of dials that say universal sport?

Not having any luck online so far with searches....

this one is unusual, it kind of reminds me of a bayonet mount, although I'm not sure that is the proper term. There are two larger slots at 12 and 6, which would then twist to lock. But it's not threaded in the usual sense.

I'm hoping someone will turn up another example of a universal sport before too long, I've never seen it before either.

I picked up this similar model recently. I fell for the avant-garde case design and blued steel hands. I'm hoping that replacing the crystal will make all the difference as I think the dial has survived largely unscathed.

I'll post some more pictures once I've replaced the crystal and found a crown and a strap that fits.

Very cool, it looks like similar but not same case as my UG sport. Is yours a bayonet or screw down back? What caliber?

I've not had the back off yet but I think it's just a snap back case.

    It's a Cal 255.

The only watch I've bought where the shipping and bank transfer fees exceeded the price of the watch.
