    Hello OF,

I happened to come across the opportunity to acquire this 145.022-68 Transitional while on vacation. Unfortunately, I don't have my Moonwatch Only to reference to, therefore coming here for help and assistance. From what I can see from the pictures.

    - Calibre 861
    - Serial number between range (26555m to 2771m) This one being 27324xxx
    - The case back, it's hard to see, but I believe it matches -68
    - Applied metal logo and long hour indices
    - DON

The overall dial and case are in good shape. I was afraid that there was a lil thing in the dial between 10 and 11 but I believe that it's in the crystal since it changes places from different angle pictures.

My doubts are crown and pushers since I'm not good at identifying any issues with those. Wish I had better pics (I know, I know, famous words) but this is what I got so far. The watch is priced as Fair. I'm going to buy it based on the price alone but would like to know if I'm missing something else.

Thank you for reading and of course for helping a fellow OF crazy! :)

    E.

    Hi @Enchanted

Whilst it is certainly not easy to say something about a crown which isn't in full view on the images, it could very well be the original flat foot crown the watch came with. At least so it appears from the shape of the teeth. Pushers are IMHO not too much of an issue regardless as the size of these hasn't really changed since the 145.012 series got introduced. Service pushers wouldn't stick out like sore thumbs as they do on a 105.012, for instance.

Regardless of the above and the more recent bracelet (1479/812, a 90's model), if it is priced as Fair, so around 5k USD, I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger. The dial looks good, so does the case and the DON bezel looks very decent too. A crown is probably the easiest part to replace should you want to get it back to factory delivery shape.

    Good luck!

I agree. Looks good from what we can see and at that price I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it. Crown and pushers could well be original but as already said it wouldn’t be a big deal if they are not.

    Crown and pushers look OK.

    Lovely watch.

Jarring in the photos but probably less so in person, the lume in the hands does not match that on the dial.
Not a lot of this model about, I’d buy it at the right price.
I’d maybe relume the hands, keeping the original paint though.

A little reassurance on the lume colour on the hands; it's quite common with these to have slightly darker lume... Here's another three specimen from the same period: 145.012-67 (1x) and 145.022-68 (2x)...

@Dash1 Wondering the same thing for the hands but they definitely don't look brand new/replacement from a year ago. Because of the lack of lume it's hard to tell but looking at Aludic pictures, all three have some similar-looking hands. :)

For a fair price, i won't hesitate much. How looks the caseback engraving? Got a box with it?

I think the comment about mismatched lume was just about aesthetics. If one doesn't like the way something looks, it really doesn't matter if it's original or not.

    Hello everyone!

Oh god, quick update. Just got back from a total 7 hour drive and a whole day of excursion to pick up this precious. I have this mixture of overdrive used adrenaline and now exhaustion. I’ll share some more tomorrow but for now a quick pic of the bounty.
Good night to some and good morning to others.

Thank you, everyone! I’m very excited to have the privilege of owning a 145.022-68.

It all started while vacationing in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, I happen to be looking over Facebook marketplace ads and found this one listed with three pictures. After messaging with the seller (an Italian man that relocated many years ago to Mexico) and looking at the initial pictures, we agreed on meeting up. We were supposed to meet at a jewelry store to have it open but that same night he sent me the pictures above with the back off, I asked him not to do anything else until we met. Two days later, I was able to open up some time between cenotes and Mayan ruins and convinced my friends to take a road trip to a "close-by town, (3.5 hrs one way to Merida ::screwloose::). Finally, we made it to Vs house, and what a lovely experience. He bought watches of different brands for many years and was just cashing out some of his pieces now that he was living with his young daughter (9 years old) after a divorce. He mentioned being from Rome and getting the watch there but moving to Mexico years ago keeping the watch in his safe for most of the time. Because of the number of other more modern watches he owned the speedy did not see much wrist time. He was sporting an IWC that day.

The box has a name on it and the papers are blank (I don’t really care about this, since those are easy to exchange, however it's nice to have) but the box really resembles the looks of a 30+ years old box. The receipt has 2011 perforated but I'm not an expert when it comes to any of this (correct boxes, papers, etc). Just out of curiosity, I’m planning to get an extract and see if indeed was delivered to Rome or to a different part of the world before getting to Italy.

He definitely knew what he had but also realized the market where he lives (Mexico) and that’s the reason for the selling price. After doing some PayPal transactions I walked out with it like a kid opening presents a day before Xmas. Definitely, a story and memory that I would never forget.

Once I get home, I'm planning to get it to Tim over OmegaAddict (I have never worked with him, but he is the closest to me geographically, with the best reputation based on OF recommendations) for a crystal replacement and a cleanup. For now, here are a few photos in the daylight. :)

Thank you for reading, everyone that helped with my OP, and of course, for following through with this adventure.
