    Hi guys,

I own a very nice 145.022-69 pre Moon model.
1039 bracelet, original DON bezel with some wear and a DNN bezel that faded blue.

I wear her quite often and enjoy it a lot, though I'd love a straight lugged Speedy.

Makes trying to trade up sense these days with prices were they are now?

Am I kidding myself and should I be happy with what I have?

    Thanks for your input.

I think it's a pretty cool watch as-is, it's more unique than any run-of-the-mill straight-lug model. I'd keep it and try saving up for a straight lug IMO.

If the bracelet's not original to the watch, you could try selling it for a small head start too. (I'd keep it if it were original though)

If you find one in nice condition. I vote for trading up.

The bracelet is original to the watch. Same year stamped inside the case back and clasp.

When I say straight lug Speedy I mean a 105.003.
Everything earlier would be even more out of my budget.
Whats holding me back most is the bracelet.
I love the 1039 and how often does one see a 105.003 with a nice bracelet for sale...

Thats a great looking 861.If you trade it in for a straight lug you will always look back and have regrets at the great 861 you let go off.

My personal experiences says keep it and save for your next watch.

Keep it, been there, done that and I'm still kicking myself in the ass for offing my '69 for a '66 w/CB case.
Obviously I really miss that '69 as it had a blue DON bezel and a tropical dial. Dummy me :whipped:

    No way!!
So many times with other hobbies(guns, guitars) I've kept trading up untell I had the best!! Guess what? I always didn't want to use it anymore and didn't even enjoy it really.. I learned, to go after what I like, not what others say is the best.. With watches I haven't made that mistake.. I've had also calls.. I've thought of trading up PLENTY of times.. but I remember my other hobbies, and how in each, I had a great example I felt a real attachment too and loved, only to trade up to "better", only to feel hollow and disappointed. Your watch is one in a million and you picked it out because you love it, I would too it's gorgeous, so dont.. You will regret it.

Very true mate. I let a 68 Black Les Paul Custom go some years back because it was a bit beaten up, a bit heavy and the gold had worn off the pickups! Gibson are making the fakkin things like that now!::shy::
I can't even think about the 1989 PRS cherry sunburst, the 1974 maple neck Telecaster and the original 80's walnut Schecter Strat with birdseye maple neck... Oh and the Messa Boogie Subway Rocket, Carvin Nomad 50w, Fender Twin Reverb....All gone! :(

Another alternative approach : and I do humbly apologize if I offend the 'vintage-only' folks, but keeping an open mind and realizing no offense or disrespect meant : why not buy a new First Omega In Space for about 1/6th~1/10th the price, to see if the straight lugs and no crown guards are really worth forking out all that cash for? Sure, it doesn't contain a 321, but essentially it has what your mind is at a cross-roads about, at a fraction of the price : Whats the worst that can happen?

    a) You decide that you don't like it, you sell the FOIS, not losing any cash, keeping your present piece. All's good.
    b) You decide that you do like it, you sell the FOIS, not losing any cash, keeping/selling your present piece. Start hunting...All's good.
    c) You decide that you do like it, are very happy with the FOIS even though its not vintage, which you don't sell. You don't start hunting a vintage piece. All's good.
    d) Same as c), but you want all of them, so start hunting vintage. All's good.

The way I see it, you get piece of mind. Just another crazy idea :) Long live OF.

I've actually thought about this option or the 57 LE.

It's a viable thought, but I fear won't satisfy my longing in the end.
