Thanks Lou. Actually, it's one of those models and brands that often sits in plain sight, yet under the radar. In this case, though, it is a very nice first generation example, and comes with the original box and GF bracelet.

Oh, and while I rarely have any concerns for my own safety, when it comes to vintage watches I can appreciate Double Security. ;)

2 days from Germany to NY - that's impressive.

Not a chronometer, and I gave one big, albeit apparently subtle hint already...

There you go, I just needed by nose rubbed in the clue.

Sweet find - even the relatively ordinary ones are exceptionally satisfying in NOS condition.

Thanks. Funny thing is that I got it for about half of what a simpler, GF beads-of-rice bracelet with an IWC logo would go for on its own!

Ah, the vagaries of collecting things with more or less arbitrary values....

Exactly. GF made nice bracelets, but the premium paid for some of them is rather hard to justify.

well, if you are going to start down that path, we are trading in obsolete technology that requires regular maintenance that will only become more troublesome as time goes on. Rationality is out of place here.

Certina DS prices will temporarily spike after your upcoming post about this piece.

Nah, you haven't been paying close attention. I only tend to write lengthy posts on watches that are very difficult to find! On a more serious note, as the best examples of the most sought after (or important) models tend to appreciate in value over time, it could be argued that our little obsession isn't entirely irrational.
