Yes, an amazing Tour for Sunweb! If Barguil didn't have that crash during the Tour de Romandie this year where he fractured a pelvis, I'm pretty certain he would be up there contending for the yellow jersey! Totally unexpected for the team to be holding 2 jerseys though

 

Not to mention Dumoulin's Giro. Hell of a year they're having

 

Absolutely! Imagine if both Dumoulin & Barguil riding the tour together next year, Sunweb would be unstoppable!

 

Yeah. And there'll be a bit of an interesting tactical situation for Sky if it ends up Dumoulin vs Froome, as they both benefit from the way Sky rides the mountains. Just setting high tempo behind a train works to Dumoulin's advantage, and Froome can't count on picking up time on him in the TT. Really he should count on losing time. So Sky will have to actually be aggressive.

Plus Sunweb will have Barguil and Kelderman, and there are rumors of Sky losing Landa to Movistar. If Subweb can sign one more climbing domestique, they should be able to challenge the sky train for dominance in the mountains. Going to be a really interesting year if any of that plays out.

 

Great Tour this year. And an even better one in prospect next year with Landa at MoviStar. Quintana. Bardet. Uran. Froome. Fabio. Martin... and maybe some more.

Could be as many as 5 or 6 or more guys who'll really fancy their chances, and have the chops to make a 3 week race of it. I think Froome will find it even harder next year, and he's been run close this year.

Is there a better annual sports event anywhere in the world for drama and spectacle? I think not.
