Huge shocker. Prince dead? First Vanity and now this? Really sad. MAJOR talent. And I'm more of a rock fan than pop/funk. Mods-Please delete if out of bounds.
Major, major talent - maybe as great a musical prodigy there ever was. I grew up listening to his music and will be playing Prince songs for the next few days in my car to relive some of the most fun years of my life.
His first movie, Purple Rain, won an Oscar for the thyme song. He only appeared in concert, sort of, in little clubs in Minneapolis. My two favorites from Purple Rain were Morris Day and of course, Appollonia [img id="yui_3_10_0_1_1461266938219_1826" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zk4s1IFiw...o/8Oi3Uw8ZJKI/s1600/PurpleRain4_002Pyxurz.jpg" alt="The movie " Rain", directed by Albert Magnoli. Very saddened at the news, I grew up with the likes of Prince. I heard the news on the radio driving home and it's easy to forget just how good he was, especially at his peak. I was reminded just how great he really was when the station played his music non-stop on the ride home. Genius is an overused word but, musically at least, he certainly was one.
Don't forget "Under the Cherry Moon," personal favorite Prince movie...of course, great sound track too!
This solo is an excellent example of why I respected Prince. From the tribute to George Harrison. He fairly much stole the song if not the show that night.
