It would appear that later this year I'll be relocating from the UK to Toronto and I was wondering what the watch "scene" is like over there. I see Redbar have a thing over there (is it called a chapter? that makes it sound like a Sons of Anarchy-esque biker gang!) who I've already reached out to. Is there anything else I should look to get involved with once I've landed & got settled, and any dealers worth keeping an eye on? Most importantly, are there any OF members in the Toronto area who would be up for a couple of beers?
I am located in Buffalo, NY and frequently visit Toronto! I have attended RedBar there and there is a solid group of collectors involved with it. I know a few OF members are in the GTA and few of us met up earlier this year! I would certainly be interested in meeting up sometime! @akshayluc420 @oddboy @R3D9 @Baz9614 https://omegaforums.net/threads/greater-toronto-area-gtg-pics-lots-of-them.74905/
Hello! I was in Birmingham for a while, so it'll good to see another Brit this side of the Pond! When are you coming over? I'll be busy in school for a couple of months but will be free during the weekends. I haven't been to Redbar, but I can say that the OF members here are lovely and very welcoming I believe there is only OB here, the rest are ADs which have the usual mix of Speedies and Seamasters, nothing special (atleast the ones I visited). Sales Tax (HST) here is 13% so if you're planning on picking up anything new, keep that in mind and compare prices before hopping on over!
I understand that Al gives tours of his repair facilities at $500. a head Reservations required @Archer
Well this is rather promising! @akshayluc420 - not completely sure yet, some paperwork I have suggests 01-Oct but given I haven't started some fairly fundamental parts of the process, I suspect this is wishful thinking. Once I've landed and got the basics sorted, I will certainly set an evening up!
I moved here in mid-April and this will be my first Canadian winter as well. I understand that it makes Edinburgh's coldest winter day feel like a warm spring day here. Temperature's are already dancing between 5-8°C, and it's a bit breezy as well. I'll let a Toronto native chime in here for more snowy details...
Fellow Torontonians, I'll be visiting November 8-13 so would there be interest for a gathering for a few beers and a friendly exchange ideas? I'm available days & evenings of 8-12 except Friday. Michel
Hey!! Got the email Invite. Thank you !! I would love to attend on my end but we’re ramping up at work and we’re just too crazy to leave the city until the new year at least. Which sucks because I love Toronto and I miss the Comunity. ( haven’t been at OF for a few weeks!!)
I'm game! Is Oakville possible? I know we have lads coming in from Guelph, the States etc. Michel, are you putting up in Downtown Toronto or somewhere in the GTA?
